Tissues

 What are Tissues?

A group of cells similar in structure that work together to perform particular functions forms a tissue.

All types of tissues have two basic components:

·         Cell: Having common origin and function.

·         Intercellular substance: they are non-living fibrous, jelly-like substances.

Formation of Tissue

·        Cells form groups of cells that need to perform a single task often group together.

·        This grouping of cells together to perform a function efficiently is called tissue.

·        For example: Muscles and Blood.

·        The tissue cells have the same structure and they perform the same function.

Importance of Tissues

1.       The Formation of tissues has brought about a division of labor in multicellular organisms.

2.      Tissues become organized to form organs and organs into systems.

3.      The workload of individual cells has decreased due to the origin of tissues.

4.  As a result of improved organization and higher efficiency, multicellular organisms have higher survival.
